Kenny López leads this exciting Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble featuring some of Cuba's hottest players.Formed in 2004 with Luis Valle(lead trumpet on his brother Maraca's grammy nominated Descarga Total)Afro Timba has played at Melbourne International Jazz Festivall in 2004 Wangarratta International Jazz Festival 2006 and Crown Melbourne Jazz 2007 featuring the legendary Afro Cuban percussionist Oderquis Revé.

Kenny López and Odisea La Banda

This is the group that recorded
the album ODISEA (pronounced odisaya) with Kenny in
La Habana Cuba. The members are all first class cuban
musicians who live in
Havana. Odisea La Banda have played at the Unión
Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (National
Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba) to launch the
CD acompanied by guest artists from Sierra Maestra among
them José Antonio Rodriguez-Maceo and Alberto
Valdés-Vigilio -see photo gallery 11 and
15. The group was invited to play at the seventh National
Festival of Septets Ignacio Piñeiro and played
at the Salon Rosado Benny Moré de La Tropical,
known internationally as the cathedral of dance in Latin
America. They were accompanied by Félix Baloy
from Afro-Cuban Allstars as guest singer.Odisea La Banda
also played at the Teatro América in Centro Havana.

The Kenny López Trio
Cubano is a unique combination of talent featuring Aymé
Colás, a singer who recently emigrated from Cuba
and who is the only female Cuban singer in Melbourne,
Conrado El Indio who has studied Cuban music in Havana
and is the only Baby Bass player in Melbourne and Kenny
López who is the only maestro tresero in Australia
and who has recorded two albums in Cuba and has performed
there live with Sierra Maestra, Elito Revé y
Su Charangon, Odisea La Banda and Los Tres de La Habana.
The Trio features Kenny López playing Tres Cubano
and lead vocals and Aymé playing maracas and
lead vocals. The style is of course Cuban Son, Bolero
and features original material as well as well known
Cuban classics. The Trio is for dancing as well as listening.
